36th St. Augustine Lions Seafood Festival Serves Up Food and Fun

The St. Augustine branch of Lions Club International hosted their 36th annual Seafood Festival from March 3rd to March 5th.

The event took place at Francis Field, one of St. Augustine’s six event venues. Live musicians, pirates, games, raffles, and a clown entertained guests while food vendors filled their bellies with dishes such as crab cakes, hush puppies, lobster bisque, and shrimp and grits. More than 20 restaurants set up shop at Francis Field during this 3-day event.

According to signs posted around the perimeter of the festival, “a portion of your purchase is to fund charitable activities.”

The Lion’s motto is “we serve.” In St. Augustine the Lions serve the community by giving scholarships, sponsoring little league baseball, donating to local disaster relief, and more.

Winn-Dixie was one of the event sponsors and had a tent at the festival where they served samples of seafood dishes.

Live music filled the field during the festival as musicians performed on the main stage.

The 36th St. Augustine Lions Seafood Festival was an event that showcased the culture of St. Augustine. The abundant seafood and the talented live musicians went well with the rest of the Historic downtown area. The food and entertainment of the festival and the philanthropic mission of the Lions made the Seafood Festival not only a fun event for patrons but also a worthwhile event that benefited the community.
