The Story Thus Far
When I was 12 years old my friends and I started making our own comic books. We’d spend hours at lunch, recess, after school, and even in class passing sketches back and forth. I still have all of the comics my friends and I made in middle school. Reading those comics now I can’t help but smile at the art and the writing. Those first comics weren’t masterpieces, but every time I open one up I can feel the passion in every single page. Every drawing, every line of dialogue, every eraser mark reminds me of how much fun I had making those comics with my friends. Those comics were the beginning of something bigger than I could have possibly imagined at the time. They were the start of my life as a writer.
Now, over a decade later, that passion for storytelling and all things nerdy has remained. After years of studying, reading, writing, I have reached where I am today.
I’m 28 years old. I’m a writer with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Flagler College and a Master’s in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University.
I still love comic books, trading cards, video games, fantasy novels, sci-fi shows, superhero movies, etc. etc. ad nauseam. I have always been fiercely proud of my passions and of my knowledge of those interests. Now I want to use that knowledge in tandem with my skills as a writer and journalist to write articles and to create online content for those with interests as nerdy as mine.
This website features articles focusing on art, gaming, performing, and other forms of entertainment. Readers will also find articles on artistic and cultural events such as art gallery openings, food festivals, live music, pop culture conventions, and medieval fairs. As a resident of St. Augustine I am deeply in touch with the city and its surrounding areas, so this website is focused on Northeast Florida.
My goals for the future are to continue creating content for malscontent.com and for other news publications. I'm also working on original fiction to contribute to the pop culture I love so much. There are so many stories to tell, and I intend to tell as many as possible.
